Our Story

After years of working with other trainers and learning numerous methods and techniques of training, I decided to establish West Wind Kennels in 1995.  I feel that training takes time, patience and repetition to produce a dog that is eager to please and a great companion for you and your family.  Through the years, I worked to develop training programs to benefit each individual hunter and dog's needs based on their breed, personalities and goals. While I am no longer training for clients, I still love to be in the field helping new people to the hobby with their dogs and training my own.

Along with my daughter, Karen, we breed Vizslas and German Wirehaired Pointers.  Our breeding programs are focused on producing gundogs with exceptional abilities in the field that are quality representatives of the breed. Our goal is to produce a dual quality dog that is competitive in the field and show ring while keeping health and temperament as a top priority.  With our dogs, we participate in NAVHDA testing and AKC conformation shows and hunt tests.

Watching our puppy families succeed with their companions makes us beam with pride. The excitement of an owner participating in their first NAVHDA test or dog show or just seeing their dog point for the first time is what keeps us working to continue to produce the best companions and hunting dogs that we can.

Please contact us with any questions about our breeding or training.  We are always happy to answer your questions.
